Our garden care is structured as an annual plan. This is intentional.
Gardens are living systems, and the difference between one that survives and one that genuinely thrives comes down to consistency.
This approach allows your garden to be cared for proactively throughout the seasons, with clear costs, no surprise charges for standard care products, and a deeper understanding of your property over time.
Initially, we provide a complimentary Garden Health Assessment to understand your property and recommend the most suitable plan: Premium, Signature or Essential, each designed around different levels of care and visit frequency.
If your garden does not fit neatly within one of our standard plans, we can create a Custom Garden Care Plan to suit your property.
Premium Garden Care
Our highest level of ongoing care, created for properties that require detailed, proactive maintenance and year-round presentation.
Best For: Luxury homes, boutique accommodation, hotels and larger residential gardens.

Essential Garden Care
Our entry-level garden care package, designed for clients who manage some garden tasks themselves but still want professional horticultural support.
Best For: Low-maintenance gardens, rental properties, Airbnbs, commercial spaces, courtyards and properties with minimal or no lawn.

The first step is a complimentary Garden Health Assessment, which you can book through the website, by phone, or by email.
Jacob will visit your property, walk through the garden, and get a clear picture of what it needs.
Following the assessment, you will receive a written recommendation outlining the most suitable package and what to expect from the service.

All packages include the scheduled visits, Jacob's time and expertise, selected garden care products (fertilisers, pesticides, herbicides, and mulch where applicable), and GST. There are no surprise additions for standard garden care products.
The only things quoted separately are optional add-on services, major works outside the scope of regular maintenance, or storm damage clean-ups.

Frequency is the main difference, but the effect on the garden is significant. Signature visits fortnightly during peak seasons, which keeps the garden well maintained.
Premium visits weekly during those same periods, which means the garden never falls behind, it stays at a consistently high standard with no overgrowth, no build-up, and far more proactive attention to plant health, presentation, and detail. Premium is suited to properties where the garden is central to the overall experience, such as luxury homes, boutique accommodation, or high-end commercial spaces.

Because the total volume of work across the year is much higher in Premium, the cost per individual visit is lower. With 42 visits per year compared to 11, the efficiency of regular, consistent care means each visit costs less.
Essential is the right choice for gardens that genuinely need less frequent attention, not a budget version of Premium.

Visit duration varies depending on the size and complexity of your garden and what the season requires.
Jacob will give you a clearer indication of expected visit lengths at the assessment stage. The focus is always on doing the work properly, not rushing through.

At least 48 hours' notice is required for any changes. Jacob will also notify you promptly if a rescheduling is needed from his side, and will arrange the earliest possible alternative.
Cancellations or changes made with less than 48 hours' notice may be charged at the scheduled visit rate, as the time has been reserved for your property.

The Packages are based on a 12-month commitment, rather than a formal contract.
This allows your garden to be cared for consistently across every season, while giving Jacob the ability to plan, monitor and maintain your property throughout the year.
The Garden Health Assessment ensures you understand the package, inclusions and expectations before anything begins. From there, the commitment is based on trust, clarity and both sides honouring the agreed plan.

An invoice is issued following each completed visit, with payment due within 7 days. GST is included in the package price and will be itemised on your invoice.
For commercial clients who need to claim GST, a tax invoice is provided for every visit.

I’m Jacob Brillante: horticulturist, garden designer and the person behind Jacob Brillante Horticulture and Design, based in the Northern Rivers.
Gardens have been part of my life since I was twelve, when my brother and I ran a local gardening business together for five years. From there, I spent six years in the Australian Defence Force, then moved through design and agriculture before finding my way back to where it all started.
That path shapes how I work today: with discipline, genuine horticultural knowledge and a long-term view of what a garden needs to thrive.
I work with clients across Byron Bay, Lennox Head, Ballina and the surrounding Northern Rivers on ongoing garden care, planting design and soft landscaping. I pay close attention to soil, plant health, seasonal change, how a space is used and what it could become, bringing that thinking to every garden I work in, regardless of size.
